Jahn
Jahn studies modern and contemporary art. He focuses on the history, philosophy, and poetics of abstraction and 20th century art. His research interests include the historical avant-garde, art of the rural Americas, provincialism, critical and postcolonial theory of the aesthetic, and the intimacy of handwriting and small drawings. Jahn received a BA in history of art, comparative literature, and studio art from the University of Oregon. His thesis reads Agnes Martin’s painting alongside Gertrude Stein’s writing, elaborating an affinity between the two instantiated at the level of the line.
