Joy Cador

Joy Cador is a PhD candidate at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a Curator who graduated from the Institut national du patrimoine in 2026. She holds degrees from the École normale supérieure, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and Sciences Po Paris.

Focusing on nineteenth-century European art, with a particular emphasis on British and French art, her research has been supported by the Institut national d’histoire de l’art, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Her work particularly engages with material culture studies and ecocritical art history. Her contributions have been published in Polysèmes, with exhibition and book reviews appearing in Romantisme, Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide, and Miranda. She also has forthcoming publications in 48-14. La Revue du Musée d’Orsay.

As a curator, she has gained curatorial and research experience at the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée de l’Orangerie, the Musée des Beaux-Arts d’Orléans, and, more recently, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille. Since June 2026, she has served on the scientific committee for an exhibition on Impressionism and industry at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen.

She was an ENS Fellow at Columbia University in 2021-2022 and also worked as a Research Assistant on the Ballet des Porcelaines project at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, directed by Professor Meredith Martin.
