Brigitte Bonsu

Brigitte Bonsu’s research interests consist of post-black ideology and post-colonial hybridity embedded in modern and contemporary art across the African Diaspora. Her academic history of English and public health grounds her approach within art history. Bonsu finds visual art as significant to an individual’s well-being. By viewing artwork as evidence of a community’s cultural identity, the lack of visibility is impactful to a person’s understanding of one’s self. As an aspiring art curator, Bonsu desires to preserve, remember, and celebrate cultures of the African descent to further acknowledge their presence.

Bonsu is a post-bacc scholar studying the History of Art for 2-years in the Emerging Scholars Initiative within the Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP).
