Nicole Boyd

Nicole Boyd studies seventeenth-century Italian art, architecture, and art theory. She received her B.A. in Art History and Italian Studies from Wesleyan University, where she wrote a thesis on the painter Guido Cagnacci. During her time at Yale, Nicole has continued to think about Cagnacci, as well as other painters and genres of painting which are generally sidelined by the “Baroque” canon. Her dissertation will focus on quadratura, a form of illusionistic mural painting that heavily features architectural features and vistas.
