Michaela Haffner

Michaela Haffner studies nineteenth and twentieth-century art and material culture of the United States, with particular interest in representations of health and illness. Her dissertation examines the visual culture of natural health movements at the turn of the twentieth century and the formation of a culture of white wellness. Prior to joining the doctoral program at Yale, she held curatorial positions at the Musée du Louvre, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Davis Museum and Cultural Center. Most recently, she worked as a curatorial assistant at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art (2015-2018) where she curated the exhibitions Fluid Expressions: the Prints of Helen Frankenthaler and Hedda Sterne: Printed Variations, the latter of which was reviewed in The Wall Street Journal. She graduated summa cum laude from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and French.
