Sama Alshaibi’s lecture delves into the key themes that have shaped her practice over the past two decades through photography, video, emerging media, and installation. Engaging in site-specific visual explorations, performative gestures, and often using her body as a gendered site or geographic device, Alshaibi reflects on both personal and collective experiences of migration, fragmentation, refugeeism, and citizenship. Her work reimagines the afterworlds of war and socio-ecological collapse, meditating on survival and resilience.
