“Early Modern Media” - Field Trip to Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts on Friday, October 14th

Students in the fall seminar “Early Modern Media,” co-taught by Professor Bass (HSAR) and Professor Peters (ENGL & FILM) recently spent a day at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, looking closely at the Dutch & Flemish galleries as well as works in the conservation lab and the print study room with curators and conservators. Highlights included looking at mother-of-pearl inlay under the microscope, handling seventeenth-century Dutch medals, discussing what one can learn from the backs of paintings, and thinking about the life of prints in early modern books.
