Portia Malatjie is Senior Lecturer of Art History and Discourse of Art at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, and Adjunct Curator of Africa and African Diaspora at Tate Modern. She is co-curator of Ecologies of Elsewhere (2023, Cincinnati Contemporary Art Centre) and When Rain Clouds Gather: Black South African Women Artists, 1940 – 2000 (2022, Norval Foundation, Cape Town)
