Corentin Dury

Corentin Dury is Curator of Old Masters at the Museum of Fine Arts in Orléans (France), having previously worked at the National Museum of Port-Royal des Champs and the Canesso Gallery. He published the Catalog of Italian Paintings (14th-18th Centuries) of the Le Mans Museum (2016) and the Catalog of French and Italian Paintings (15th-17th Centuries) of the Orléans Museum (2023). His research at the Museum of Fine Arts is mainly devoted to 17th century Italian painting. He curated an exhibition dedicated to Velazquez’s early work and his connection to Ribera. A future exhibition will deal with Guido Reni and the multiple versions of a composition as a practice in the Seicento workshop. 

Since his studies at the Ecole du Louvre with Michel Laclotte he has been working on 14th century paintings with a particular focus on Siena and the rediscovery of this painting tradition in the 19th and 20th centuries, including forgeries and with a special focus on the histories of collections. He is mainly interested in the reconstruction and understanding of polyptychs and is currently working on Sienese polyptychs after the Black Death (1348–1422), from the death of Lorenzetti to the death of Taddeo di Bartolo. He has been awarded the Carnot Scholarship (2017), the Michel Laclotte Prize (2022), and the Focillon Scholarship (2023).
