Xueli Wang

Xueli Wang is a PhD candidate in History of Art and Film and Media Studies. She researches Sinophone art and film; global New Wave and slow cinemas; history of photography; and Asian diasporic aesthetics. Her dissertation investigates disappearance as a mode of performance in the work of Maggie Cheung across borders, languages, and media ecosystems.

She was the 2021-22 MRC Fellow in Photography at the Museum of Modern Art, where she contributed research and writing to the exhibition An-My Lê: Between Two Rivers.
