Kristina Potuckova

Kristina Potuckova is a doctoral candidate in the field of medieval art history. Her work explores the aesthetics of women’s medieval monastic liturgies, drawing upon a range of interdisciplinary sources, from monastic customaries to liturgical objects in various media. In her dissertation project, she works on integrating objects such as the Hohenburg liturgical fan (Hohenburg flabellum, BL Additional 42497) into the larger narrative of the nature and extent of monastic women’s liturgical spaces in the eleventh- and twelfth-century German lands.

Kristina received her Magister degree in the History of Art and Culture from the University of Trnava (Slovakia). She also holds an M.A. in Art History from Tufts University and an M.A. in Medieval Studies from Central European University.

In Fall 2021, Kristina will be teaching an undergraduate seminar on Art and the Senses in Europe, 500-1500 at Yale.
