Second Year
Global Baroque

Shweta Raghu is a first-year graduate student interested in transnational early modern art history, especially the visual and material culture of colonial South Asia. After stints in sales and trading, she realized that she wanted to approach the global commodities trade through the lens of art history, with special focuses on cotton, textiles, and unfree labor markets. As a result, Shweta spent the last year in the Netherlands as an H. Allen Brooks Fellow studying the Dutch colonial presence in Brazil and South India. She graduated from Dartmouth College with an AB in Art History and Mathematics.
