Pierre Von-Ow

Pierre Von-Ow is a PhD candidate in History of Art. His research focuses primarily on the intersections of arts and sciences in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Britain and the British empire. His other interests include art historiography, film studies, artists’ biographies, the history of sign languages, and all kinds of individuals who steal images. He received a joint M.A. in art history from the Université Paris 1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne and Columbia University in 2016. In 2021, Pierre curated the virtual exhibition « William Hogarth’s Topographies » for the Lewis Walpole Library at Yale. Among his recent publications, he co-edited with Enrico Camporesi an anthology of Jean-Claude Lebensztejn’s writings on film (Propos filmiques, Paris, Éditions Macula, 2021), and is the co-editor with Marie Gueden of a special issue of journal Écrans on « William Hogarth and Cinema » (forthcoming spring 2024).
