Matthew Jeffrey Abrams ( is a sixth year student scheduled to submit and defend his dissertation in Spring, 2017. His interests cover a broad range of topics, including but not limited to the historical avant-garde, American modernism, the history of the salon, feminist modernism, Native American visual and material culture, and nineteenth century American literature. His scholarship has appeared in numerous locations, including international museum exhibition catalogs, and more is forthcoming in several journals. Many fellowships and institutions have supported Abrams’ research, and in addition to his simultaneous commitment to literary criticism, he is also a published fiction author.
