Magdalene Breidenthal is a PhD candidate who is specializing in Byzantine and Medieval Art. She is currently performing research abroad with support from the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) as a Paul Mellon Predoctoral Dissertation Fellow. Prior to beginning her studies at Yale, Magdalene received a B.A. in Art History from Fordham University (2008) and an M.A. from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2009).  Her dissertation is titled: Leaving “Heaven on Earth”: The Visual Codes of Byzantine Church Exits, 900-1200
