Laurel Peterson specializes in British art of the long eighteenth century. Her dissertation, “The Decorated Interior: Artistic Production in the British Country House, 1688–1745” considers the role of mural painting and limewood carving inside Whig country houses. Her research has been supported by the Paul Mellon Centre, the Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation, the Lewis Walpole Library, and the World Monuments Fund.

Laurel holds a BA from Yale (2006) and an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2009), and has worked at the British Museum, the Yale Center for British Art, and the College Art Association.
