Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Physical History of Art

Dr Caroline Fowler, who began in May as Andrew W. Mellon Post-doctoral fellow in Physical History of Art. Caroline is a specialist in the theory and practice of early modern drawing; her book Drawing and the Senses: An Early Modern History (Harvey Miller Series in Baroque Art, 2016). She has written extensively on seventeenth-century Dutch art, print culture and works on paper. Following the completion of her doctoral dissertation at Princeton, she has held post-doctoral fellowships at the Getty Research Institute, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art.  At Yale, she will teach an innovative graduate seminar on the Physical History of Art, drawing on the resources of the Yale museums and the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and the expertise gather on the new West Campus site.
