1:1 SYSTEMS THEORY IN PRACTICE CONFERENCE 04/20/2017 - 5:30pm to 04/21/2017 - 5:30pm

On April 20-21, the History of Art Department will host a two-day conference titled 1:1 - Systems Theory in Practice since WWII. This interdisciplinary event explores how comparisons between humans and computers have informed art and technology over the last 70 years. Invited speakers will interrogate the politics and poetics of human-machine analogies, from their imbrication in a militarized mid-century culture, to the neural nets of today. Pamela M. Lee, Osgood Hooker Professor in Fine Arts at Stanford University, will deliver the keynote address. For registration and conference schedule, visit 1to1conference.com.
